29 May 2008 Brendan Sturgeon (2nd Year CAP Phd Student, Institute of Governance and the School of Politics, International Studies and Philosophy, QUB) discussed his PhD topic anti-social behavior in society today. He outlined government and community responses with specific focus on how anti social behaviour affects older people. His powerpoint presentation is available here.
22 May 2008 Dr Karim Khadjri (School of Planning, Architecture & Civil Engineering, QUB) shared the findings of his research which seeks to inform housing design fit for older people. 10 April 2008 Dr Bernadette McGuinness & Dr Peter Passmore (School of Medicine, QUB). At the last minite Drs McGuiness and Passmore were unavailable. Their collegue Ms Maria McManus, Associate Director of the Dementia Services Development Centre NI was kind enough to step in and present the work. Ms McManus presented research on early detection of Alzheimers Disease.

6 December 2007 Dr John Copelton (Senior Careers Adviser, QUB) Coast to coast: lessons from the USA: Due to demand, John has agreed to return to the Institute. This time he will provide an overview of his recent study tour of initiatives involving older adults in the USA. His presentation can be downloaded here.

15 November 2007 Dr Una Lynch (Institute of Governance, QUB). Growing older Cuban style: Una shared her research findingsinto the reasons behind the success of the Cuban health system and the focus of older people within this. Her presentationcan be downloaded here Part One and Part Two.
1 November 2007 Ms Máire Brolly & Dr Dermot O'Reily (Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency) The Northern Ireland Longitudinal Study: Máire provided an insight into the Northern Ireland Longitudinal study of 500,000 people (28% of the NI population). 18 October 2007 Dr Albert Jordan (Department of the Taoiseach, Dublin, Republic of Ireland) Seniors and surfing: Only about one in ten senior citizens in Ireland use the internet. Albert shared the findings of his research into the reasons why so few older people use the internet. His presentationcan be downloaded here.
5 October 2007 Professor Rosemary Kirkpatrick, Professor Geraldine MacDonald, Dr Laura Dunne Rym Akhonzada and Margaret Anderson (Institute of Child Care, QUB) presented their findings on Children's perceptions of older people. 4 October 2007 Dr Karim Khadjri (School of Planning, Architecture & Civil Engineering, QUB) facilitated a workshop on housing design with older people and architects. This seminar was part of Age Awareness Week 2007.
