About Age Concern Help the Aged NI
Age Concern Northern Ireland and Help the Aged in Northern Ireland have come together to create a new, independent charity for older people in Northern Ireland.
We believe creating a single new charity is the best way to ensure a better life for older people here: bringing together our resources will bring significant benefits for older people and will improve our ability to deliver essential services at a time of increasing need.
It is a sad situation but older people continue to be underrepresented in society and to experience neglect, live in poverty and be discriminated against. We are determined to fight to redress these issues to create a world where older people flourish. Our commitment continues to lobby government, provide valuable services and to campaign to improve the lives of older people now and in the future. We believe that through the continued support of our partners and donors and by putting older people at the heart of everything we do; this vision is achievable.

About the Institute of Governance, Queen's University Belfast
Queen’s University Institute of Governance is a centre for interdisciplinary research and learning on governance, public policy and social research from local to global. With funding from The Atlantic Philanthropies, the Institute offers research and policy evidence on ageing to support age sector organisations and inform politicians, government and policy-makers. Underway since 2006 are a number of short (one year) and long (three year) research projects on young people’s perceptions of age; medication regimes in nursing homes; smart housing and happiness and longer term projects on crime, fear of crime and economic rights of older people.

The Workers' Educational Association began organising classes in the north of Ireland in 1910. It is the largest voluntary sector provider of adult education in Northern Ireland with 5000+ learners a year. It is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. Its vision is of a prosperous, creative and cohesive society where everyone is a learner. Its mission is to make learning irresistible. There are offices in Belfast and Derry/Londonderry and projects based in Ballyshannon and Truagh.
